A new year is here, happy 2020. We are experiencing warmer than normal temperatures. I'm day dreaming about spring already. Most med spas experience an increase in clients interested in laser hair removal during winter months. Laser hair removal may take several sessions to complete. If you are thinking about going razor free in the spring, now is the time to start your treatments.

1. How does laser hair removal work?

The laser hair removal machine emits energy to safely target and destroy hair follicles responsible for hair growth. There are 4 cycles of hair growth. Each cycle must receive a treatment. On average, clients require 6 treatments. Four treatments for each cycle, two extra treatments for dense areas and hair that grows off cycle.

2. Who is the ideal candidate?

People with fair skin tone and darker hair color are typically the best candidates. If you have blonde, gray or white hair, laser treatment will not work. Book a free consult to determine if you are a good consult...

Six years ago the Vampire Facial™ was made famous by Kim K.  Kim's instagram post was liked by nearly 150,000 followers.  In 2013, her bloody selfie received attention because of the shock factor.  I'm going to break down the science. The benefits are not just shocking, but amazing.

Why are the treatments called the Vampire™? (Vampire Facial™, Vampire

Lift™ & Vampire Hair Restoration™) Dr. Charles Runels took PRP (protein rich plasma therapy) to the next level.  He trademarked the name and the technique of the treatment.  I decided to attend his training because I agree consistent technique will achieve consistent results.  However, the therapy can be customized to meet many client's needs.

PRP (protein rich plasma) is a treatment method to enhance the body's ability to heal itself. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate skin healing, encourage collagen growth and repai...

The popularity of microneedling is growing exponentially. Microneedling is an effective  minimally invasive treatment of skin rejuvenation.  Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a treatment option to improve acne scaring, fine lines, and skin tone and texture.

Educate yourself and remember these 3 "P"s of microneedling...provider, procedure & price.

     1. Your provider:  In the state of Ohio, microneedling is considered a medical procedure.   Microneedling is permitted by a registered nurse under the direction and guidance of a medical director.  As a R.N. and a Certified Aesthetic Nurse, I've obtained three separate certifications in microneedling.

     2. Procedure: microneedling is a procedure that requires a clean, controlled environment.  We are a medical facility, our numbing ointment is medical grade.  Our topical anesthesia, allows the treatment to proceed at minimal discomfort.  At SAS Med Spa,...

Dermaplaning is a no down time facial treatment for all skin types.  Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation that utilizes a special instrument designed to scrape away accumulated dead skin cells and vellous hair (peach fuzz facial hair) .  This painless skin care treatment, delivers results immediately.  Excessive dead skin cells and fuzzy facial hair leave the skin looking dull.  Dull skin can accentuate fine lines.  In as little as 30-60 minutes, this facial experience will improve skin tone, texture and reveal an over all healthier looking appearance to facial skin.

At SAS Med Spa, I include a customized facial to compliment your dermaplaning treatment.  Upon reviewing your skin condition, the post dermaplaning treatment is adjusted to reveal the best skin possible for you.  A close assessment of the skin, including inspecting the scraped skin cells, I am able to determine which facial will best benefit you.  Dermaplaning may be added to...

A brutally honest testimonial

I am a 57 year old woman who has struggled with my weight and image for many years now. My jobs and lifestyle demand a tremendous amount of physical activity - I am on the go constantly. My eating habits are for the most part better than most. I only drink water (or an occasional adult beverage 😊), stay away from pasta and sugar, no whites. I do have a sweet tooth but try to stay under 5 grams of sugar usually except for the occasional binge. A year ago, I was in a farm related accident which caused my very active self to be confined to a wheelchair then walker for 5 months. Trust me, sitting on the sidelines of life causes you to think and rethink your previous history and your future. When released, I started my journey of wellness. I absolutely HAD to get better as I have many who depend on me. I began strength training at a local gym to work on my balance and surprisingly l have remained loyal and continued. I have returned to my daily physical demand...

Importance of Caring for Eyelash Extensions

Did you just get a full set of eyelash extensions or a refill to get that fresh, full, glamourous look? We all love the fact, eyelash extensions ease our everyday routine! Ever wonder what the big secret is to making those gorgeous lashes last even longer? The secret isn’t so big. It is actually just performing the proper care for the extensions in between refill sessions.

Natural eyelashes are there to catch and stop any debris, dust, allergens and airborne particles from getting into the eye. Not to mention environmental allergens such as dust, pollen, mold and pet dander. Now imagine all of that debris building up on the eyelash extensions more and more every day. YUCK! The most common reason to get eyelash extensions is to keep everyday life, low maintenance, while still looking beautiful. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have an at home, simple, upkeep on eyelash extensions?  With NovaLash® eyelash extensions and NovaLash® brand supplies, the dai...

Have you looked in the mirror and felt frustrated by bulges of fat that just won’t go away with diet and exercise?

Do you want to feel better and look better in clothing?

Are you looking for a one-time, low discomfort with minimal downtime treatment?

If you have asked yourself any of the above questions, perhaps, laser liposuction is the treatment choice to reshape the look you desire.

How does laser liposuction work?

Laser liposuction or Smartlipo® is performed with a small laser fiber that produces gentle laser energy which heats, liquifies and coagulates fat cells.  Blood vessels are also sealed, allowing fat removal with less pain, swelling and bruising than old-fashioned liposuction.  Another unique feature of Smartlipo®, the heat of the laser is used to heat the skin.  The heating of the skin provides skin contraction, increased collagen and elastin, resulting in increased skin tightening when compared to traditional liposuction.

Where is the procedure performed?

At SAS...

What Exactly Are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are applied to your natural lashes to give you an enhanced natural look. This will make wearing every day mascara a thing of the past. Here at SAS Med Spa we use NovaLash on all of our clients. The NovaLash extensions are a single fiber artificial eyelash that has a blunt base and tapered tip, giving the lashes a very natural look. For every natural eyelash you have, a synthetic eyelash is attached to it using a formaldehyde free eyelash adhesive. Since all of our natural lashes go through a shedding process, each lash extension will shed with the natural lash. These semi-permanent eyelash extensions will last 3-4 weeks before needing a refill.

Reasons To Get Eyelash Extensions

By having eyelash extensions, it will help reduce the amount of time it takes to get ready in the morning. NovaLash extensions do not require any mascara, although you may wear NovaLash Mascara if you choose to do so. Each individual extension is made with a c...

Summer is almost here.  As our calendars fill with outside events, our skin's exposure to that gorgeous yellow ball in the sky is sure to increase.  The American Academy of Dermatology reports that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime.  According to the skin cancer foundation, 87,110 new cases of INVASIVE melanoma will be diagnosed in the United States in 2017.  That number is staggering and hard to imagine.  The number becomes a bit more real when you know someone that was diagnosed with melanoma and ultimately lost his battle to the disease just a few short months ago. (RIP T.T.) Prevention and early detection will be key to decrease these scary statistics.  If melanoma is detective before it reaches the lymph nodes, the 5 year survival rate is 98%!  Take a few moments to do a skin check on yourself and your family members.  Look for asymmetry, irregular borders, color changes and moles that are larger than a #2 pencil eraser.  If you find anything suspicious,...

By 2018, the skin care industry will be an 11 billion dollar business in the United States.  No kidding,  11 BILLION dollars...for...Skin Care??  Our biggest, largest, organ, skin...care? YES! Why wouldn't so many people/companies want a piece of that pie?  Consumers need education on where to turn for the right answers because the choices are endless.

Persons in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond seek anti-aging prevention, but younger people are cueing in on the importance of caring for what he or she is blessed with at a young age.  Often times, a skin condition leads a person to buy a product, for example, acne treatment.

I had a client recently share with me, she was spending $175 a month on an ongoing acne treatment regimen.  Unfortunately, three months passed and her face remained acne ridden.  I

placed her on the B-Active Environ® program, saved her $$ and we are seeing dramatic changes in just...
