Dr. Richard Nedelman, a Springfield native and graduate of Springfield North High School, joined SAS Surgery & Vein Specialists in 1993. Dr. Nedelman received his B.S. degree in Biology from the Ohio State University. He received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1987. He completed his internship and surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati in 1993. During his surgical residency, Dr. Nedelman participated in an overseas surgical exchange program in Edinburgh, Scotland where he received specialty training in the treatment of benign and malignant breast disease as well as biliary and pancreatic disease. He completed his chief residency in 1993 when he was awarded the Max Zinninger Award recognizing outstanding performance as a chief resident.
Dr. Nedelman is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honorary Society. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Clark County Medical Society, Ohio State Medical Association and the Ohio Chapter of American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Nedelman is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Wright State University, participating in the teaching of medical students. He actively practices at Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital and Springfield Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Nedelman practices general and minimally invasive surgery. He performs advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures including the treatment of Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and laparoscopic colon resections for benign and malignant diseases. Dr. Nedelman also treats varicose veins using Venefit™ Closure, endovascular treatment in the office and recently has trained in aesthetic procedures including in-office laser liposuction.
