Six years ago the Vampire Facial™ was made famous by Kim K. Kim's instagram post was liked by nearly 150,000 followers. In 2013, her bloody selfie received attention because of the shock factor. I'm going to break down the science. The benefits are not just shocking, but amazing.
Why are the treatments called the Vampire™? (Vampire Facial™, Vampire
Lift™ & Vampire Hair Restoration™) Dr. Charles Runels took PRP (protein rich plasma therapy) to the next level. He trademarked the name and the technique of the treatment. I decided to attend his training because I agree consistent technique will achieve consistent results. However, the therapy can be customized to meet many client's needs.
PRP (protein rich plasma) is a treatment method to enhance the body's ability to heal itself. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate skin healing, encourage collagen growth and repair damaged skin cells. The PRP ingredients: blood platelets and plasma are packed with growth factors and protein building blocks. These key ingredients help repair damaged skin cells and build new collagen. With only a small blood sample from the client's arm, we can extract platelet rich plasma and then inject or infuse it into targeted areas to give skincare treatments an extra regenerative boost.
PRP is becoming the treatment of choice to improve the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, and circles under the eyes. Also, PRP treatment is used for hair restoration. Protein rich plasma is a successful treatment for restoring hair with natural looking results.
Kim K. says she will never do this treatment again. At the time of her treatment, she was pregnant and was not allowed to use numbing cream. This treatment is uncomfortable if not properly numbed. At SAS Med Spa, we use the highest concentrated numbing ointment. We would also not approve a pregnant mama or a breastfeeding mama to undergo this treatment. Although not pain free, all of our clients conquer the treatment without difficulty.
